Kitty Cat and Fat Cat

Niah enjoys reading. She knows lots of words and can talk about what happened in the story. Niah is learning to make other words from known words.

Kitty cat is a very naughty cat.

Counting

Isla-May likes doing Math. She can identify many numbers from 1-50. Isla-May can put the numbers from1-20 in the correct order. She enjoyed this task and helped some of her friends complete their work.

Clark the Shark

Timothy enjoyed listening to the story online book called " Clark the Shark." He talked to his mum about what happened in the story. One of the tasks was to listen to the dictated audio recording of the sentence and write it down. Mum helped Timothy write the words for the sentence. Timothy worked hard at copying the words, writing letters correctly and leaving spaces between words.

Sing a rainbow

Jahnaeyah loves colouring. She takes her time and uses the correct colours, colours within the lines and uses the correct colours to colour in this rainbow picture. Her favourite colour in the rainbow is pink.

Duffy Certificate

Today, at our live stream assembly the prefects did a "shout out." to students who have been awesome at school this week. Quincy got a certificate and a book. Quincy likes Lego stories and can't wait to read his book with his mum. (Dictated to the teacher)

Memory Game

In class we have played a cup memory game and during the lockdown period I made a similar game and recorded it for the children to watch and play at home with their siblings and parents. This game helps us with our memory as you have to focus on the object, you have to think hard and remember as well as respect each others turn. Cullai enjoyed watching this video and I hope he had a go at playing this game with his sister.

Taking a break

Jimmy Tai has been busy doing lots of learning at home. Sometimes he goes out riding on his bike with his brothers. He is a good big brother and always helps mum at home.

Learning to blog

This week some of the children in Room 18 have been learning to do their own blog posts. They are learning to save their work to the drive to them upload on their blog. With the teacher's support they can copy the words for their blog post. They are so excited and proud of their learning.

Niah is always eager to learn.

A healthy lunch

Isla- May always brings healthy lunch to school. She likes having wraps and drinking milk.

Our classroom

Our classroom looks different. We have to sit away from each other to do our work and eat our lunch.

Going for a walk

Every morning Mrs. Fester and Mr. Fester like to go for long walks in their area. One Morning Mrs. Fester took a video of things she noticed on her walk and created an activity about this for our home learning site page. Children were asked to notice 5 things and write or draw this on some paper. Cullai watched the video. He noticed some things in the the video however was curious to find out what the other things were. So Cullai and his mum went exploring.

Back to school at Level 2

The children in Room 18 are so happy to be back at school. Things are a bit different and we are learning lots of new things, like keeping one mitre distance from each other.

Keeping Fit

Cullai and Jane have been keeping fit at home by following the exercise  video on Cullai's home learning site page. Cullai loves dancing and can keep up to the beat.

Jimmy Tai likes writing.He wrote a sentence about one of his favourite foods.

Lost

Cullai liked listening to the story called "Lost." He listened to an audio recording of the sentence and then he wrote the words for his sentence. Cullai wrote the sounds for some tricky words by himself. He read his sentence to his mum and she helped him spell those difficult words. Cullai is so happy and proud of his learning. He wanted to share his work with everyone.

Listening to stories

Timothy has been going online each day and doing all the activities planned for that day. He enjoyed listening to the story called "A starfish for Oscar."

My Cat

During our class hangout sessions Tevita showed us his cat. We were all very happy to see his cat. The cat is a boy and his name is Koshi.

Tevita likes to colour in pictures with felt tips.

Maths

Tevita is practising to write his numbers correctly.

Love to bake

Niah enjoys baking. She made some banana pancakes.

Mash some bananas.

Mix all the dry ingredients- flour and
baking powder.

Adding eggs to mashed banana.

Mixing the wet ingredients and adding it to the
dry ingredients.

Pop it into the pan and cook the pancake.

That looks delicious.
Time to eat.

Sunny days

We have been so lucky to have such lovely weather. Tevita has been enjoying his time outside.

Tevita went for a walk to the park.

Time to have a rest- getting some Vitamin D.

Home Learning Packs

Jimmy Tai received his Home Learning Pack from Ngati Whatua, Orakei. The pack included lots of learning activities, paper, stationary and books to read. Jimmy likes drawing and was really excited to find a box of colour pencils and some other cool stuff. Thank-you Ngati Whatua for supporting our kids and their whanau.

School Assembly

On Friday Cullai and his family watched the live stream school assembly. Cullia loved watching Mr. J's singing.

Writing

Cullai has been doing writing at home just like how he would have done it at school. He can find many words on the alphabet card and is really good at locating sounds for some difficult words. He is so clever at recalling all the words that he needs his sentence. He even drew a lovely picture to match his writing.
