On Friday we celebrated Matariki Day at school. Matariki is the Maori name for the cluster of stars also known as the Pleiades. It rises in mid-winter and for many Maori, it heralds the start of a New Yaer. It was a fun day where children participated in various activities like sports, movie making, arts and crafts. The children in Room 18 had a wonderful time with their teachers making and creating Matariki crafts.
